If you wish to contract for online backup services, be aware these are
often expensive and mostly used by companies as a means to an offsite
backup for their critical files.

See the following Yahoo page of online services:

For your purposes, the "File hosting" services that I referenced in my
response to Daniel's post might serve your needs for now. You and your
son could create an account at a free file hosting service and then
upload from your son's computer and download to yours.

For small files, you could attach them to e-mail and mail them from
your son's account into yours.

For many of the files, a good, simple method of transport could be by
using floppy disks. If you would be interested in this method, then
you might wish to obtain free software that allows you to logically
split files larger than the size a floppy disk holds. If yes, post
back up and we will find you "splitters" for your need.

The other alternative might involve the purchase of a ZIP drive that
can be hooked and unhooked to the two respective computers.

As to AOL, I should think you would just reinstall the software from
the CD-ROM.

I had a similar situation early in the year. I got a new computer and
wanted to move several files from my old computer. I did this using
floppy disks to transport the files. It was a tad tedious, but it got
the job done and done very cheaply. I mainly used WinZip to zip and
span my files to floppies.
