I apologize if this is OT, but I have a laptop with an early version of
Windows (Win95a), and I am having trouble connecting to my ISP with it.
I went over all the settings with the ISP tech, and they were correct
and it still could not connect, so he asked me to email the *.dun file
to him.
Trouble is, I cannot FIND the *.dun file on it. The only thing I can
see in the file explorer is an entry where right-clicking it and
selecting "Properties" gets me the setup for the DUN entry and it
doesn't let me see the filename.
I also tried opening a DOS window and doing "dir /s c:\*.dun", which is
the old DOS trick for locating a file on the HD, and no luck...
I looked in my desktop, and there were DUN files in
c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Connection Wizard\, but that doesn't
apply to the laptop because it has no MSIE installed...
I also tried opening up the *.lnk file for the desktop shortcut that
starts the connection, only to find that it was almost all binary and
thus unreadable to humans...
At this point, I'm a little stumped. Does anyone know where DUN
profiles are stored on a Win95a machine from the days before bundling
of MSIE?
Since this is a bit OT, I ask that you reply to me directly off-list,
thanks for any info :)
