My IT techs spoke with "noses held high" and "extreme brevity"
as if this problem of mine was really beneath them but they
would condesend to speak on the topic, albeit cryptically and
minimally.

The problem may have been that I'm in the telecommunications
crew so when I run cables my installations look like in the
training manuals whereas when the IT boys run cables they always
create yet another rat's nest in my wire closets and I never
miss the opportunity to point it out to them (rub their little
nosies in it so to speak). They at last had a chance to hold
their noses high ;-/ Paybacks are hell.
