Mining GP-dudes and -dudettes, FYI, Regards, T.
______________

Dear Colleagues,

The Second International Symposium in Three-Dimensional Electromagnetic
Modeling (3DEM-2) is less than one month away. A very exciting program has
been defined with over 80 presentations. The proceedings volume has gone to
press and
contains over 400 pages. It surely will be a landmark event and publication.
The updated program including information about Salt Lake City and hotel
accommodations can be viewed on the Web at:

http://www.mines.utah.edu/~wmcemi/conference.html

At this time, we would like to gain a more accurate estimate of the number of
attendees. This would help very much in planning for meeting space, meal, and
shuttle requirements, etc. Those who have been contemplating the event are
requested to indicate the likelihood of attendance, and if possible fill in
the
enclosed form. It would also help ease our workload if those who have
contacted
us informally by phone or email would submit a formal registration using the
following info also. Please let us know if you wish us to make hotel
reservation
for you (and where, and if you wish a roommate), or that you will make it
yourself. The initial block of 100 rooms at the Marriott likely will be
exhausted soon and it may be difficult to gain accommodation at the last
minute.
The Marriott University Park hotel operates its own airport shuttle, and it
would
ease our efforts greatly if attendees could use it as much as possible.
Unless
otherwise indicated, those sending the following registration form will be
given
a single room at the Marriott. For those making their own reservations there,
the room block is under the name "3DEM-2". We will ensure there are no
duplications.

Most attendees who have attempted to wire transfer the registration fee have
been
successful, but a few have encountered some problems. We reccommend paying by
check from this point onward, which may be mailed to Wannamaker at the address
below, or simply brought to on-site registration.

The registration desk will be open from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday,
October
26, and from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 27, and Thursday,
October 28, 1999. The registration desk will be located on the first floor of
the Marriott University Park hotel, close to the meeting room.

Phil Wannamaker will be in the field from October 2-17. We request that email
registrations be copied to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Ms. Kim Atwater will be confirming hotel
accommodations. The registration form below has been augmented to include
accompanying persons and expected arrival/departure dates and times. We
recommend that all who have indicated an interest to attend fill out this
augmented form for completeness and confirmation. Pre-payments have been
recorded. Thank you very much.

Our best regards, and we look forward to meeting you.
