Position for a Remote Sensing Geoscientist
The PACES center at UTEP is funded by NASA at least until July of 2005 and
is seeking a research scientist to work in the area of earth and
environmental science applications of remote sensing. The mission of this
center is to undertake a broad range of investigations in southwestern
North America stressing the integration of a broad range of data. The
integration of remote sensing, potential field, and topographic data is of
particular interest. These studies focus on the Rio Grande Rift/ Basin
and Range/ Rocky Mountain/ Northern Mexico region and environmental
studies of the Rio Grande corridor and border region, but there will be
good opportunities to pursue personal research interests globally. We
have established a state-of-the-art computer system to analyze remote
sensing and potential field data. Thus, the person must be familiar with
modern computer systems for image processingand GIS and must be willing to
share in the effort to maintain this large computational facility and to
work with students and researchers to use it effectively. An MS degree is
required and a PhD is preferred.
