Press Release April 24, 2001 LaCoste & Romberg, Scintrex and Micro-g Solutions Merge Three leaders in the geophysical instrumentation and services industries have merged and formed a new company that unites their operations. LaCoste & Romberg-Scintrex, Inc. is a new holding company of LaCoste & Romberg, Scintrex Limited and Micro-g Solutions Inc., a Scintrex subsidiary. "We are very pleased to make this announcement," said Dr. T. R. LaFehr, chairman of the board of LaCoste & Romberg-Scintrex. "The combination of these very high quality organizations complements each other's strengths and will enable even better products in the future, including new dynamic and gradiometer systems for marine, airborne, and borehole exploration." The new corporation headquarters will be in Concord, Ontario, Canada, under the direction of Mr. Roland Horst, president and chief executive officer. Horst will also retain his position as president and chief executive officer of Scintrex. The combined companies lead the world in manufacturing high-quality absolute and relative gravity meters for use on land, in boreholes, underwater, on the sea surface and in aircraft. They also are involved in the design, manufacture, and sales of a wide range of other geophysical instrumentation, including induced polarization, magnetics, resistivity, borehole, radiometric, radon, electromagnetic and seismic. The Scintrex survey division includes fixed-wing and helicopter-borne multi-sensor airborne operation along with ground geophysical services. The Scintrex power-control division will continue to provide state-of-the-art power-generation control and safety instrumentation, primarily to the nuclear reactor market. The president of Denver-based Micro-g Solutions, Dr. Tim Niebauer, will also be vice president for technology of LaCoste & Romberg Corp. The LaCoste & Romberg instrument manufacturing facility will continue in Austin, Texas, under the direction of Dr. Kwok Chan, LaCoste & Romberg vice president for U.S. operations. Contacts: T. R.
