                   KEGS Short Course

Hardrock Seismics - From Exploration to Development

Toronto, Crown Plaza Hotel, March 9, 2002, 8am-5pm
                 (PDAC begins March 10)

         Sponsored by Inco and TeckCominco

Technical Program organized by Bernd Milkereit and Rob Hearst.

It has long been recognized that effective mineral exploration and
development strategies require reliable geophysical information in three
dimensions. The challenge is to develop enhanced geophysical for geological
exploration to depths attainable with current mining techniques. Seismic
methods are just now finding routine application in mineral exploration and
mine development, although they have been applied with great success for
hydrocarbon exploration. The KEGS short course, through tutorials and
special contributions, will cover a wide spectrum of seismic applications
including: overburden mapping, exploration case histories, technical issues
related to survey design and costs, borehole and underground seismic mapping
techniques, geotechnical aspects, and induced seismicity. This meeting will
bring together experts from industry and academia to present state-of-the
art seismic data acquisition techniques, new developments, and case studies.
