Everyone, The following is the final schedule for this year's SEG Gravity/Magnetic Workshop on Noise In Gravity Data. Mark
SEG WORKSHOP
"NOISE IN GRAVITY DATA"
Chairmen: Mark E. Ander and Bob Van Nieuwenhuise
Thursday Afternoon, October 10, 2002
Short Description: This workshop will examine the sources of both
instrumental and geologic noise in gravity data, modeling and
interpretation. It is proposed that as a product of this workshop, a list
be created of instrumental and geological noise sources along with the
workshop's collective best estimate of their magnitudes. The list could be
published.
1. 1:00 - 1:10 PM
Mark Ander (Ander Exploration) and Bob Van Nieuwenhuise (PGS). Introduction
to workshop and description of proposed workshop product.
2. 1:10 - 1:30 PM
Tim Niebauer (Micro-g Solutions) will discuss: "The real meanings of
"precision", "accuracy", "resolution", etc. in instrumentation and a
description of the sources of instrumental errors in the absolute drop
gravity instrument". (15 minutes with 5 minutes for discussion).
3. 1:30 - 1:50 PM
Mark Ander (Ander Exploration) and Daniel Alliod (LaCoste & Romberg) will
discuss: "Sources of Error in The L&R Graviton-EG Meter". (15 minutes with
5 minutes for discussion)
4. 1:50 - 2:10 PM
John Brett (Bell Geospace) will discuss: "Error sources associated with the
FTG moving Gravity-Gradiometer" (15 minutes with 5 minutes for discussion)
5. 2:10 - 2:30 PM
Bob Van Nieuwenhuise (PGS) will discuss: "Terrain and Bouguer Correction
Effects as a Source of Gravity Noise". (15 minutes with 5 minutes for
discussion)
6. 2:30 - 3:20 PM
