Subject: EGS-AGU-EUG Joint Assembly in Nice

Dear EM colleague,

The EGS-AGU-EUG Joint Assembly is scheduled for 7-11 April 2003 in Nice,
France, and one of the sessions deals with EM studies. The topic
presented there is the MG14 "Electromagnetic probing of the deep Earth",
and we would like to invite everybody interested in participating.

The main deadlines are:

For support applications 01 December 2002
For abstract submission 15 January 2003 (24:00 GMT)

We recommend visiting the EGS home page for further information:

http://www.copernicus.org/egsagueug/index.html

The main scope of the MG14 session is:

Over the last years many multi-disciplinary research programs have been
conducted in which electromagnetic methods play an important role. For a
better understanding of the structure and dynamics of the lithosphere
the correlation of electrical properties with other geophysical
parameters and geological observations is vital. In this session, we
would like to address integrative research projects and regional
field-based studies which involve the joint interpretation of EM data
with other geophysical data and help to constrain the geodynamic history
including petrological, geochemical and geothermal aspects.
Contributions with focus on with laboratory measurements of electrical
properties of rocks, and theoretical and methodological advances in EM
research are also welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you there,

Yours,
Alex Marcuello (Universitat de Barcelona)
Vaclav Cerv (Czech Academy of Sciences)
Ute Weckmann (GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam)
