Dear Colleagues

There was a special session on porphyry coppers in BC at the RdUp last week
and a lead-off speaker was Prof Mike Doggett. The title of his talk was "The
Business of BC Copper" and he looked at the industry over the last 45 years.
While most of us likely feel we ply our craft without needing to deal with
what Mike discusses, our opportunity to work largely stems from other people
making decisions to spend money to pursue the business opportunities Mike
outlines. Without these decisions, we would not have clients.

At the AEMA conference in December, an industry pundit complained geologists
needed to be more aware of the economic factors which affect the industry.
I'd say the same message applies to the geophysical community.

Cheers/Ken
