Ken,
It is unfortunate that Prof. Doggett did not look back another ten years 
(55years) to get  the real picture of the impact of low grade, large tonnage, 
open pit copper production, namely Bethlehem Copper, Brenda Mines, Newman/Bell, 
Highland Valley. Prior to the recognition in the 1960s of the potential for 
these type of operations in BC, copper production in Canada was focused in 
Quebec, Ontario, and Manitoba on underground massive sulphides.
His main point is on the delay from discovery to profitable production. Again 
in the 1960/70s these timelines were shorter. 
As an “old timer”, it would be interesting for Prof. Doggett to move his start 
date back to 1963.
