Noted this post on one of the trade web sites this AM. Part of the story seems could be related to unusually warm temperatures Alaska is experiencing as well. A colleague who lives and works in Alaska reported a few days ago that smoke from the numerous fires was so extensive, firefighting aircraft were unable to operate safely.
