Hi All,
I have tracked the quote to Daniel J Boorstin, 1974 Pulitzer Prize winner and a
librarian of Congress. It from an interview with him on pages E 51 & 52 of the
March 29, 1984, Orlando Sentinel. The full paragraph on p 52:
“What an amateur is, is a lover of a subject. I’m a lover of facts. The fact is
the savior, as long as you don’t jam it into some preconceived pattern. The
greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance — it is the illusion of
knowledge.”
Best regards, Edgar
