SEG ANNUAL MEETING UPDATE:

90TH ANNUAL SEG 2020 ONLINE: 11-16 OCTOBER, 2020

Hi everyone,

The SEG 2020 annual meeting is now almost a month away. As many/most of you
already know, after months of concerns over the SEG Annual Meeting in Houston
due to the global pandemic, on July 30th it was announced that this year's
meeting would be 100% virtual. Since then SEG organizers and volunteers have
been working tirelessly and feverously to make this event a success.

In spite of many parts of our bi-annual Mining Summit being unfortunately
curtailed by the cancellation of live events, including our NASA-JSC Field
trip, MG luncheon and Student Event all being cancelled, we still have our two
Mining sessions, our two Post-conference Workshops, our NASA Keynote Talk and
our MG Annual Meeting – all of which I encourage all SEGMIN members to attend,
along with the Gravity & Magnetics events, as well. And we thank all the MG &
GM speakers and organizers for their efforts.

This is truly an excellent opportunity for SEG members to take advantage of and
participate.

Register online at: https://seg.org/AM/2020

Unlike previous years where participation in the Annual Meeting, Exhibition,
Technical Program, Luncheons and Pre- & Post-Convention workshops were priced
separately, this year it’s one price for all (see below). The one fee allows
attendees to participate in all aspects of the virtual conference :

MINING COMMITTEE ANNUAL MEETING.

Wednesday 14 October after the PM technical session, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Meeting format/particulars TO BE ANNOUNCED

Objective: To discuss issues relating to the Mining Committee. Most importantly
nomination and vote for the incoming member of the executive committee. Other
item include Possible switch of Bi-annual Mining Summit to odd-years starting
in SEG 2021 in Denver. Suggestions for other Agenda Items by SEGMIN members
welcome: send you suggestion to any MG Executive Committee member. Voting will
be open to registered SEG members only.

For those who are unaware, members of the MG executive committee serve for six
years. The initial two years as technical key contact, then two years as
vice-chair and finally two years as chair.

As in previous years, the current SEG Mining Committee executive has chosen its
own nominee for incoming technical key contact and this year we nominate Dr.
Jiajia Sun, Assistant Professor, Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences,
University of Houston. Jiajia has been active as a speaker, author and
co-author in MG as well as Grav-Mag sessions at SEG since his days as student
from Colorado School of Mines and continues to this day.

Other volunteers/nominees for MG Technical Key Contact are welcome at the MG
Annual Meeting.
