I've seen hostility like this to SMW from Wikimedia and other
MediaWiki developers. But nowdays it seems to be diminishing minority.

I am mostly concerned about the almost total segregation of SMW from
rest of the MediaWiki community. Also about code quality and lack of
good developer APIs.

>From user perspective it's great software, though it will affect
performance if you really use it a lot, except perhaps if you are a
hardcore SMW developer who knows to avoid the pitfalls that cause
performance issues.
