Hi, I'm a sysadmin who is using the Semantic MediaWiki plugin to
document ontologies. I'm very new to the idea of semantic wikis and
ontologies and triples and all of that stuff, so please forgive me if
this question seems especially elementary.
Let's say that I was creating an ontology for a nuclear family (Mom,
Dad, and two kids, Joe and Jane). Let's also say that each family
member had their own page, and that dad's looked like this:
* [[Name:=Dad]]
* [[Age:=40]]
* [[Has Wife::Mom]]
* [[Has Son::Joe]]
* [[Has Daughter::Jane]]
After saving this page, I'll see this at the bottom:
Relations to other Articles
---------------------------
has wife: Mom
has daughter: Jane
has son: Joe
Attribute Values
---------------------------
blah blah ...
Let's say that I then click on the "Joe" link and create
this page for the son:
* [[Name:=Joe]]
* [[Age:=10]]
Here's my question: should I add a relation to the father to Joe's
page, or is there some other mechanism for linking Joe to his father?
Currently, Joe's page is a little confusing since you can't determine
his father without looking at the back links. However, I don't want to
overdo the relationship links in my wiki. What's the best practice?
Thanks, and keep up the good work!
