Serbia's PM: US congressmen letter written by paid lobbyists, it's child's
play

Commenting on a letter from a group of the US congressmen, Ana Brnabic,
Serbia's Prime Minister, told reports on Monday she did not expect
"absolutely any change in the US policy towards Serbia as a consequence."

The congressmen asked the US president Jo Biden to consider sanctions on
those who destabilised the Western Balkans and accused Serbia's President
Aleksandar Vucic of deepening corruption and pressuring the media.

"As the famous congressman's letter is concerned, I may be naive, but I
don't expect anything as a result because it is more than obvious that the
letter is the result of some lobbying agencies. That is allowed everywhere,
especially in the US," Brnabic said, adding she doubted that congressmen in
the USA follow the situation so closely to know what the state-owned Telekom
Serbia or private TV Pink were doing.
She also said the number of congress members who signed that letter was not
impressive.

"I have never heard anyone saying the elections in Serbia were irregular and
illegitimate," Brnabic added. She said it was "just the opposite" and that
everyone asked why we had early parliamentary elections when the elections
were regular and legitimate.

"We know whose interests Telecom and Pink are. they can pay lobbyists, and
everything is fine, and it is up to our ambassador and us to talk about the
factual situation."

Asked if she was worried about the legitimacy of Serbia's elections in the
US Congress, she drew a parallel with Serbia's Parliament, saying a lobbying
company might find six deputies to sign a letter that Dragan Djilas, an
opposition leader and the favourite target by the authorities and the media
under their control, won the elections.

"What will the United States do?" They recognised the election. Do you think
that they will change their mind because six congressmen said they were not
regular? "Brnabic asked an N1 journalist and added it was "pointless and
child's play ", but that it was also possible that those who had paid the
lobbyists could "pay a hundred times more."

"I think it is a futile effort," Brnabic said, adding those who she accused
of paying for the letter had two goals - to return to power and target
Telekom Serbia, "which is successfully fighting in the market."
