Russian ambassador: Shameless lies by EU’s Borrell Author:Beta 2-3 minutes _____ Russia’s Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan Harchenko accused the European Union’s top diplomat Josep Borrell of crying crocodile tears over Ukraine and twisting things around. Harchenko’s comments came in an opinion piece for Belgrade daily Politika following a recent opinion piece by Borrell in the same daily. The ambassador said that the EU High Representative’s article was “full of shameless lies and groundless provocative accusations against Russia and its leadership”. “I am sure that Serbians, who remember the horrors of the Western aggression in 1999, will correctly assess Borrell’s crocodile tears. They will remember the excessive cynicism in the project to deliver lethal weapons to Kyiv, including offensive, financed by the EU through the structure called the European Foundation for Peace. That peace, Mr Borrell, which you and others like you are trying to establish in Ukraine truly wold be worse than war,” he wrote. Ambassador Botsan Harchenko told Belgrade pro-government daily Vecernje Novosti that Moscow will not change its stand on Kosovo nor would it call Belgrade to recognize the Donyetsk and Lugansk areas which declared their independence from Ukraine and were recognized by Russia. Borrell wrote in his opinion piece that Russia has to immediately stop its combat operations and unconditionally withdraw from Ukrainian territory. “Instead of attempts which are contrary to diplomacy to prolong the agony of neo-Nazism in Ukraine and the a priori failed denigration of our country and its role in the Balkans we are calling for a return to reality.
