Vucic: We have no say on Kosovo’s membership in NATO

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that it will not be easy for Kosovo to
become a member of NATO because both Spain and Hungary are strongly against it.

He added that nothing depends on Serbia because it is not a NATO member.

“They can be admitted to NATO, but not easily because there are member
countries that do not recognize Kosovo. There will be very strong resistance
from Spain, but also from certain countries that have recognized Kosovo, like
our brothers and sisters in Hungary,” Vucic told the media in the town of
Knjazevac following a tour of the Zajecar District in eastern Serbia.

Asked to comment on the matter of Kosovo’s admission to the Council of Europe,
Vucic described it as “particularly shameful.”

“Nothing like that has ever happened in history. Their starting point is the
principle ‘might overcomes right.’ They think they can do anything, but time
will come when there will be a slightly different balance of power in terms of
greater respect for international public law than at present, whether it is my
generation or yours, we will see,” said the Serbian President.
