Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said there are no outstanding issues between
Serbia and North Macedonia and that the two peoples have a fraternal
relationship.

Following his meeting with North Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski at the
Prohor Pcinjski Monastery on Wednesday, Vucic said all Serbia needs from North
Macedonia is for the two countries to continue developing cooperation.

“Relations between our two countries are exceptional. We from Serbia love North
Macedonia and the Macedonian language and understand it very well. I have no
problem saying that we are not only friends, but that, as peoples, we have
fraternal relations,” Vucic told a joint press conference with Pendarovski.

He said that trade between the two countries has reached 1.5 billion euros per
year.

“I believe that our cooperation will continue developing. We are working on
improving our citizens’ standard of living, we discussed further connecting
through our railways,” said the Serbian President.

You are always welcome in Serbia, just as we feel at home when we visit you,
Vucic told Pendarovski and wished the people of North Macedonia happy Republic
Day Ilinden.

President Pendarovski said he was glad to have the opportunity to celebrate the
biggest national holiday in the place where his country was formed, adding he
hopes no political or religious issue would stand in the way of this good
tradition.

The North Macedonian President thanked Vucic for making it possible for North
Macedonia to celebrate its statehood day at the Prohor Pcinjski Monastery where
the modern state was formed on August 2, 1944.
