Serbia’s flag carrier Air Serbia said Thursday that it achieved record results
in the first six months of 2023 according to several parameters.

In the first two quarters of the current year alone, Air Serbia had around 1.7
million passengers, which is 87 percent more than last year, i.e. 59 percent
more compared to the record pre-pandemic year 2019. In relation to the total
number of passengers who traveled through Belgrade airport, the share of
passengers who flew with Air Serbia is about 50 percent, or one half. In June
alone, the market share of Air Serbia passengers at Belgrade airport was 55
percent, said the company.

“In this period, Air Serbia operated a total of 19,181 flights, which is 63
percent more compared to the same period last year, i.e. 38 percent more than
in the first six months of 2019,” said a company press release.

It stressed that “good business operation produced record financial results.”

“According to preliminary financial reports, Air Serbia recorded a profit of
22.4 million euros in the first half of the year, practically the level of
profit for the entire year 2022,” said the company.

“In view of the good financial result, our company, in compliance with domestic
laws and the legislative framework of the European Union, decided to pay 20
million euros to the Republic of Serbia already this year, for the funds
received through the recapitalization process,” said Air Serbia.

“Air Serbia thanks the Government of the Republic of Serbia for its support and
emphasizes that it will continue to fulfill its obligations under the
Recapitalization Agreement,” it added.

The Republic of Serbia carried out the recapitalization of the Serbian national
airline in accordance with European and domestic regulations in December 2020
and September 2022, as a measure to eliminate business disruptions caused by
the Covid19 pandemic during 2020 and 2021.

Air Serbia has been in the spotlight this summer also due to many flight delays
and cancellations, causing dissatisfaction among passengers.
