Vucic: By recognizing Kosovo, Ukraine would destroy all its principles - Kosovo

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said tonight that with the eventual
recognition of Kosovo's independence, Ukraine would destroy all its principles
and the basis of its defense.

Vucic said on TV Happy that it was why he did not think that the President of
Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky would do that.

"They would thereby destroy all their principles, the basis of their defense. I
don't think that Zelensky will do that, Merezhko alone cannot understand that,"
said the President of Serbia, commenting on the signature of Oleksandr
Merezhko, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of
Ukraine in a letter addressed to the USA, the EU and Great Britain in which
they have been requested to be stricter towards Serbia.

Vucic says that fight is necessary for those who are not Americans, French,
Germans, even Chinese or Russians - by adhering to some principles.

"Our strength is exactly that. We are not militarily large, although we are now
10 times stronger, we are not large in terms of population either, but we are
larger than Croatia, as well as the fact that they say there are two million in
Kosovo and there are no more than 1.2 million inhabitants. This speaks of the
big problems we all faced, but Serbia is in a better position," said Vucic.

He also pointed out that Serbia would protect the Serbs in Kosovo, in the
Republic of Srpska, as well as all over the world, wherever they live.

The Europeans are most in a hurry to reach an agreement between Belgrade and
Pristina

On the statement that it was easiest for him to talk with the USA on the issue
of Kosovo, because an agreement was within reach with the help of the
Americans, but that agreement was prevented by the former Chancellor of
Germany, Angela Merkel, Vucic also pointed out that the Europeans were most in
a hurry to reach an agreement between Belgrade and Pristina.

"Angela was fair. Let's face it, Europeans are in a hurry the most. I also
understand German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron,"
said Vucic.

He also said that Serbia's goal should be membership in the European Union, but
that it must also be monitored what is happening on the other side of the
world, reminding that China was the first to help Serbia when it was the most
difficult.

Speaking about the progress of Serbia, Vucic expressed the hope that the German
chancellor would change the policy regarding lithium and would bring to the
country companies that were technologically advanced and did not pollute the
environment.

He pointed out that some countries deliberately had sabotaged the lithium
mining project, fearing how economically Serbia would "stick out" from others.

Speaking about the construction of road infrastructure, he also mentioned the
"Peace Highway" as an important project, from Nis to Pristina, and further to
Durres, which he said would be very busy, and when he noted that this
particular road was often attacked, he answered yes - I wouldn't do anything
else if I only had to listen to "various nonsense and lies", including about
that.

To change Bob Menendez - we can't, but it's good that there aren't some
signatures that were there before

Vucic said that out of a total of 6,111 parliamentarians, from several
countries, the letter sent to the USA, the EU and Great Britain, in which they
asked them to be less "soft" towards Serbia on the issue of Kosovo, had been
signed by 56 of them, which was less than one percent, that is, less than 0.9
percent.

He added that he had no problem with that, even if there were more of them -
about five, six percent, because there used to be much more - and 90 percent.

"Now there are still a lot fewer of them. The question arises, what can we do
there, do we want to change Bob Menendez? We can't, he is a well-known Albanian
lobbyist. I am happy that there are no other signatures that were once there.
Why would anyone do this to us? if he doesn't have his own interest. That's the
reason I'm going to beg Scholz for lithium or Macron for something or anyone
else," said Vucic.

The initiative, he repeats, was made essentially against Serbia, and it is only
about Vucic.

"I wondered if I had done so much good for my country that I was their biggest
problem," Vucic said in response to a question on how he felt about that letter
when he first saw it.

He adds that he also felt pride.

He also stated that he knew very well what the signatories of that letter,
Alicia Kearns, Bob Menendez, and Michael Roth, wanted.

"They will say that they want a modern Serbia, and that is Serbia that will say
that the Republic of Srpska is a genocidal creation, that the Serbian national
minority in Kosovo should receive certain rights, but that Serbia has no points
in common with Kosovo, to say 'we don’t care about more than 30 percent of
Serbs in Montenegro', that it doesn't matter what nationality they are, that
is, it is important for all nations in Serbia, but it is not for Serbs
anywhere, and if it is possible, we should not only impose sanctions on Russia,
but also send voluntary fighters to Ukraine to fight against Russia and to make
Serbia economically weaker so that it does not stick out," said Vucic.

Commenting on the statement of Zdravko Ponos, who said that not imposing
sanctions against Russia caused this attitude of the parliamentarians and that
the current government was leading a duplicitous policy that was not guided by
national interests, Vucic said that the man who had destroyed the Serbian army
was talking about national interests.

"I don't know whose interests he is defending, because he is a Croatian
citizen, who destroyed our army, destroyed everything and led a uniform policy
that destroyed the Serbian army. They destroyed the Serbian army almost
completely," said Vucic.

He says that today Serbia does not lead a duplicitous policy, but a serious
one, stressing that its goal is to have friends everywhere, including in China,
but that it will never agree to be a follower and to serve the interests of
others.

Serbia's strength lies in the fact that it has principles, Vucic pointed out
and said that he was not surprised by the letter signed by Kearns, Roth and
Menendez, considering that they participated in the creation of independent
Kosovo.

"They are the protectors of independent Kosovo. How can you say that I am
actually helping the Albanian factor and independent Kosovo, when all the
biggest fighters for an independent Kosovo see their biggest enemy in
Aleksandar Vucic, and not in Bosko Obradovic or Milos Jobanovic, because in
their time Kosovo got independence, although it self-proclaimed independence in
2008," said Vucic.

When it comes to "sitting on two chairs", Vucic emphasizes that he has always
said that the Serbs are a people of freedom and that if sanctions were to be
introduced, he would personally appear in front of the people and say: "If we
don't do this now - it would be catastrophic for the country".
