Vučić: Serbia would accept EU membership without veto rights

Membership in Serbia is acceptable to the European
Union<https://vreme.com/en/tag/eu/> without the right of veto, said President
Aleksandar Vučić for the German Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

"The most important aspect for us is the internal market as well as the free
flow of goods, people and capital," Vučić told this newspaper. "These are the
central values that we want to achieve with EU membership."

The German newspaper reminds that Vučić - by agreeing to membership without the
right of veto - joined Albanian Prime Minister Edi
Rama<https://vreme.com/en/svet/edi-rama-zeli-albaniju-bez-gotovine-do-2030-godine-da-li-je-to-moguce/>
 who said the same thing.

For a long time, the European Union has mentioned the possibility of such
membership "on hold" in which the new members would not have full rights for
years or would even be under monitoring.

Some circles in Germany - and obviously also in the Balkans - believe that this
is the only way to open a real chance for the EU to expand in the near future.
