Hell yes $30,000 is cheap.  In america, injection plastic molds for an 
assembly like that would cost over $300,000 to make if they were durable 
enough to last for the model run of a car, which means made of tool steel.  
If they were going to be fairly low volume, like about 50,000 units then 
they could be made of aluminum which could drop the cost to around 50k or 
so.  So if you figure that these are made in taiwan, where tooling costs 
about 1/2 as much to make as the usa and assume it's low volume aluminum 
tooling the price is right in line.
