It's the device used in an automatic transmission to couple between the 
crank and the transmission. Essentially, it performs the same function as 
the clutch in a manual.
It works by pumping fluid (transmission fluid;) into a vane to transmit 
power. Like a fan blowing at another fan to make it spin.
