There is a big difference in kits also.  You can get a crappy off the shelf 
internal wastegate turbo combination, weld up some pipe from shitty thin 
gauge steel, fuel it with a pump and regulator and shove it out the door for 
3 grand or even less than 2 grand sometimes.

Or you can get a properly sized turbo with a quality tig welded manifold 
with an intercooler, bigger fuel pump, injectors, tuned ECU, external 
wastegate for more money.  The difference is twice the power and reliablity. 
  The choice is up to you.
