There is currently some talk of how well a car will do on a drag strip.
I believe that it was Mike K. that made mention of temperature having to
deal with drag times.

I can understand this b/c of coming from a USAC background. Temperature
deals a lot to do with how well a car "pressures" (ei-SPL reading).

How does this effect drag racing, Joe? You are talking about car audio.

Well, kiddies, I'll tell you in one word. AIR.

Specifically air density. For car audio, you don't want denser air in
the cab of your vehicle b/c it is harder for your subs to compress it,
and this will cause lower dB readings. From what is done off the lines,
most ppl that I have talked to will actually roll their windows up and
turn the heater on full blast right before pressuring. This expands the
air and hopefully gets rid of some of the humidity as well.

The exact opposite is true of car intakes. The denser the air, the more
molicules of air will fit in a given space. The more oxygen molicules
(sp) you have, the more there is to burn. The more there is to burn, the
more horsies you will squeeze out of your engine.

Weather, climate, and altitude seem to have a lot to do with ppl's SPL
readings, so I am assuming that they can also effect you ets. I am
actually suprised that Wes did not think of this factor before, being as
he seems to know a lot about car audio.

Spitting what he reads,
