Today I tried to install a 91-97 Courtesy Nissan front strut tower brace on my 98 Sentra SE. Despite the rumor that they won't fit and after reading Naji's site I tried anyway. I guess I'm just stubborn. To my delight, it went on fairly easy, EXCEPT for ONE small thing (apparantly this actually the one BIG THING). On the left side of the TB there is a gold-colored metal cube (sorry for the lack of a better term) that comes in direct contact with the STB once installed. It did however bolt on very well, and at this point I was getting excited that maybe mine WOULD FIT. I took a the car for a quick spin around the block and there were no problems, at least then. The front of the car felt pleasantly tight around corners. All was peachy until I got on the highway to go to work. I accelerated on the entrance ramp into 5th gear and suddenly the thing was clanking like hell all over the place! CLUNK-CLUNK-CLUNKCLUNK-CLUNK.....It got so annoying, loud and scary that I pulled into a Burger king and took it off. There is now a nice crevice (and metal shavings) on the bottom of the STB where it continually came in contact with the gold piece of metal. DAMN, it was worth a shot though. Some questions.... 1. Who makes a front STB for the 98-99 SE-R's? I swear I remember reading a thread awhile back about a new company making them. Does Courtesy now have one? (crosses fingers) 2. If #1 is not an option (i.e, no one makes one) is there any kind of special tool I can use to grind away some more of the 91-97 STB (where the emission piece already started it) to make a good but tight fit? Either way, I'm ordering a Courtesy rear STB tommorow. Gotta love suspension. TIA. Jordan White '98 Sentra SE w/ HS CAI, 17" Borbet Type S's '91 SE-R for sale
