SML: Tuning up your car yourself

Hello.  This is my first time posting to the list, but I've been trolling
for the past 1700 messages :)

I was just wondering, what all can I do to my car (92 Sentra XE 1.6L) myself
to "tune it up" as opposed to taking it somewhere and doing it.  I can think
of a few things, like air filter, oil fiter/change, possibly plugs and
wires.  It needs one kinda bad too.  My mileage has dropped about 8-12 mpg
in the past two years.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!
