Is there a place where you can check out the laws for your state online?
This may help you find a solution for your problem.
As far as right now, try a small piece of red reflective tape, or even
maybe some red tape cut in a circle around the red bulb that you are
using for your brake lights.
Most definately check on the laws for your state. Don't try to read into
them. Take them word-for-word and you will find a "legal" solution that
should hold up in court incase that bored cop gets bored again :-)
