Hey all I'm kinda new to this and I was wondering if anyone can help me out
with a list of mods that will be worth the money and what brand, etc. The
first mod I want is a Torque Converter. I just want to put a lot of mods on
this car but keep it N/A. I have a 95 200SX SE Automatic Trans, so far I
kept it stock and I'm tired of those punk Civic's trying to race me. Can
someone help me out so I can show them what a Nissan can do.

What amount of money can/do you want to spend? A Torque Converter (not
installed) will cost around $700.00, if your going to put in an after market
torque converter and up the stall speed from stock then you'd better think
about putting in an automatic transmission oil cooler, it's got one in the
radiator now, but your going to be increasing the temp of the oil in the
automatic transmission with a higher stall speed in the transmission and the
stock unit will not handle the added heat, so before you burn up the
automatic transmission you should add the extra cooler at a cost of around
$50.00, while you have the automatic transmission apart you'll save your self
time and money in the long run having a new transmission shift kit installed,
the automatic transmissions in the car are great and will hold up if they are
kept stock and the automatic transmission oil is changed like it should be,
to the best of my knowledge on these automatic transmissions it's really best
to leave the work on them up to a shop like Level 10. (www.level10.com) I've
forgotten what they quoted me for a shift kit for my auto. trans. but I think
it was around $600.00 for the hole valve body, so that makes it around
$1250.00 for the automatic transmission just in parts and you do the remove
and replace work, if you have the knowledge to R and R the automatic
transmission, if you don't the costs will increase due to the labor for this.
Think about a Cold Air Intake system (www.placeracing.com) around $200.00
(you install it) header costs around $450.00 (you install it). Tell you what,
get a few back copies of Sport Car Compact read the articles on your type of
Nissan. You'll learn a lot, read the articles in the Se-R net, Sentra net, go
to drag races, go to SCCA events (Sports Car Club of America) check out SOLO
2 events, take a look see at what the other people who are running the same
car as you are using for bolt on's or if you've got the money check out
turbo's and superchargers for your engine, one of the best things you can do
is read, go to different kinds of race events, look at the car's see what's
been done to them, ask questions of the owners, read this list (Sentra.Net)
There's an old saying that goes something like this (I may have it wrong)
Speed Cost's, How Fast Do You Want to Go? After you have done some reading,
been to a few different types and kinds of racing events and learned a little
more about you car/engine/trans then you'll be better equipped to know just
what you can afford to do to your car, money wise, labor wise (what you have
the know how to do). If you've got a pile of money and not the know how, then
check out the different tuner's shops, find one you like, tell them what
you'd like to end up with, hand over your keys, car, money and come back and
pick up your car, enjoy.
Good Luck to you and Welcome to the Sentra List.
Ron
Ps Another good way to learn about what to do to your car, is to check out
the members who have web sites for there car's and take a look see at what
works for them. These gal's/guys have given a lot of thought as to what will
work or not work or they have copied from others who have, but the thing is,
it will save you some time getting up to speed for what you'd like to do to
your car and give you a lot of ideas for improvements/mod's.
