Yesterday we had some pretty bad storms where I live (Columbus, OH). It
thunderstormed on and off all day until around 7:15 at night or so when
the rain stopped. I decided to take advantage of this opportunity and
left to go see a movie with a friend of mine. About 5 minutes after
leaving my friend's apartment, it starts storming again, this time
extremely hard. I quickly made the decision to not go to the movie
because the theatre is about 10 freeway miles away. After stopping once
in hope that the rain would let up a little, we decided to go play pool
at a place that was only 2 or 3 miles down the road. We get there fine
and I turn into the parking lot. There was just one thing I didn't
notice: part of the parking lot was flooded, and I just drove into the
flooded part. I have a Place Racing CAI, but I have it set up for WAI.
Since I did not notice the parking lot was flooded (a little over one
foot of water), I accelerated right into the flooded area, creating a
pretty big splash. At this time I realized what I just did and my eyes
shifted to the tachometer which quickly went up and down a couple hundred
rpms, meaning the intake took in some water. Immediately I turned the
engine off and my friend and I pushed the car out of the flooded area.
After we pushed the car into a parking spot I nervously turned the key,
and the car started. I revved the engine a couple of times and let the
car idle for a few minutes thinking the heat of the engine would burn the
small amount of water that the car had taken in off. A little bit of
steam came from the front grille, but quickly went away. There is no
doubt in my mind that if I would have had the intake set up as a CAI,
that my engine would now be hydrolocked.

If something similar to this happens again, what is the best thing to do?
 Sorry about the long post.
