I have a 91 XE with 138000 miles. For the past few months, when ever I back
up, or downshift into second, my front end makes this weird nose, almost
like a rubbing, that sounds like its coming from the front right tire or
suspension area. But i looked inside the fender well, and check for any
signs of wear, nothing. I also changed my front brake pads and thoroughly
inspected to any obvious signs of wear. I couldn't find anything. The
sound is slowly getting progressively worse. Any ideas, suggestions, or
what ever are welcome. I basicly want to know if my car is gunna fall apart
when i'm drivin down the street, and whether or not i should fix it, or if
you think i'm crazy, thats fine too. One guy i know told me it was my gear
box, but my car is a 5 speed and my brother said that it doesn't even have a
gear box. Please help
Thanks

p.s.: i recently had the front right axle replaced, and thought that might
have something to do with it, but it made the noise before I had it changed.
