<<I've had a slow oil leak right straight under the middle of the engine
ever since i've had the car, but lately there's been a strong oil smell
and I can watch it drip.>>

Hoping that nothing is seriously wrong with your car, I would say that
the oil filter is not being put tight enough on the car.

The filter is almost dead center in the middle of the car, and directly
over the exhaust system. If the filter leaks, then it will leak onto the
exhaust, which will in turn give you that smell.

I would make sure that the filter is tight, along with (if you change
your oil yourself), make sure that the filter seal is being "sealed". I
always use the old oil from the car to seal the new filter. Some prefer
to use new oil.

If this is not the case, then extensively checking the undercarriage of
your car maybe your best bet in order to make sure that you find the
leak. I found mine was not on the under carrieage of the car, but in the
oil cap. Check this and you may find your leak :-)
