I would make sure that the filter is tight, along with (if you change
your oil yourself), make sure that the filter seal is being "sealed". I
always use the old oil from the car to seal the new filter. Some prefer
to use new oil.

Tightening too much will distort the seal and cause leaks too.
William has a leak near his tranny, I doubt the oil from a leaky filter
would go that far forward and then to the driver's side.
Its probably best to just put the car on jacks, clean the underside of the
car with degreaser and look carefully for leaks instead of looking at random
things that could leak motor oil.
