Dude i can start the car in gear with the clutch down (nuetral, yes any car can do this) I can also start it with the shifter in nuetral and no clutch (all though i wouldnt recomend this to anyone) what i have been saying is that I have a remote starter..... as in, I dont have to be in the car to start it and as a safety feature you cant start the car while its in gear, someone on the list liek 2 days ago warned me about leaving it in gear, and i told him that the car will onlyu start (remotely!!) if the shifter is in nuetral!! got it now? I dont mean to come off as an ass, but i must have explained this to you like 20 times, later -Ed Bocknik AIM: Edbockni ICQ: 66035761 -----Original Message----- From: Joe Syxpuque [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, November 28, 2000 11:37 AM To: Sentra Mailing List Subject: SML: Neutral/aftermarket car starter (was: What Next?) <<safety feature, you can only start the car while in nuetral......>> <<Really? What year do you have again? I can start my car in any gear, as long as the clutch pedal is depressed.>> <<i mean the remote starter, only starts with the shifter in nuetral.... its a 98 200sx se>> If the clutch pedal is depressed, the car IS in neutral. The placement of the stick doesn't matter until the car is put back into gear by letting off the clutch :-) So either way, both the alarm and the car have this safety feature of not letting the car start while in gear. The oldest standard tranny car I have driven is a '80 Toyota, and it even had this feature. I think it's pretty universal.
