My b14 is hard to shift into second when its cold and if forced, it usually 
grinds. I even have Redline tranny fluid in it. I found that that either rev 
matching or just waiting a little longer before shifting works well. When 
its warm, there are no problems at all. This is one of the reasons that i 
have avoided installing a short shifter.
