One of the busiest displays at NAIAS 2001 will be Nissan. Even the head
honcho, Carlos Ghosn, will be there taking part in the activities. Detroit
will be the first showing of a concept for Nissan's already-announced new
full-size pickup truck. We're told the design for this biggest consumer-sized
truck is still being worked out, but visitors to Detroit will be able to get
a good feel for the actual dimensions of this upcoming pickup. And we're told
"this ain't no Toyota Tundra." Rather, this one is going after the Chevy
Siliverados and Ford F-150s. Nissan plans to start selling its full-size
pickup in 2003. Also sure to grab the limelight in Detroit is the sporty 2002
Sentra SE-R. And the Z car returns in new concept forms. First shown as a
rough concept at NAIAS in 1999, the Z car has been behind closed doors
getting major design changes since then. In January 2001 at Cobo Hall, the
new Z concept—which will be much closer to the actual production
version—will debut. The Nissan display, by the way, is new for NAIAS and
