I had my entire axle replaced for 250 at my dads mechanic, then I had the other one replaced for 125 from my mechanic. So I would try to find a mechanic that you know, or a friend knows that might give you a deal. If you boots are cracked... are the axles making the clicking sound when you turn hard at slow speeds? If they are clicking, just replace the axle, because you will just have to replace them later. And new axle comes with boots.
