You probably blew oil into your exhaust, fouling the catalytic converter and
the muffler. Let it burn off but you may have ruined your cat.

Hey faithful list members, whats going on?

Hoping, and praying, that I don't need an engine rebuild. I had posted
earlier that my car was smoking intensely, and there was an extreme loss

in power.

My STUPIDITY - I had put too too much oil, there was no oil pressure
that morning, I was in a hurry (running late 4 work). Later, I drained
the oil out, and changed the oil filter, and added only 2 quarts (scared

now...) When I drained the oil it was enough to fill a 6 QT container -

OH NO :((((( !!!!

Well, I learn from my mistakes. I'm hoping I don't have to learn the
hard way anymore, but we'll see...
I had spoken to a couple of my mechanic friends, and they told me to
first drain the oil to the right level and see what happens.

UPDATE:
It is still smoking... one thing - the engine sounds terrific, but my
muffler is puttering. I don't know if it is still smoking because there

is still oil left over from all that excess, and it has to be burned
off. I have NOT driven it even a mile...

The muffler piping has a hole in it, of course this causes a loss in
power... If there was a problem with the internal parts of the engine
(rings/seals), would the engine sound like its running so well? Because
it does rev well... Sometimes the car idles funny though. The exhaust
constantly makes a puttering sound, and I think that might be the
problem. If the piping is messed up, would that cause bad idling, and
the car to run funny? I am getting the muffler fixed, but I doubt that
would get rid of the smoke. I still smell the burning oil, but its NOT
AS INTENSE, as it was before.

If this keeps up, I'll record it so you guys can hear the pain I'm going

through.

SUGGESTIONS:
Should I try checking the spark plugs for oil?
Compression test?
Tune up if necessary?

OR

I really need a muffler, and new piping, it sounds awful, and I think it

is on its last leg. Now I don't know if changing the piping, and
muffler would help, but I just needed your input...

Thanks again -
Kevin - riding the bus and NOT ENJOYING THE RIDE... :(
