Hi Marcus:
Say I'm going to just take a shot in the dark here and say you might want to
check your caliper pins, sents you say in your post the noise happens most of
the time when the brakes are cold I'm GUESSING that maybe the calipers are
hanging up due to the coldness when you press on the brake pedal and the
calipers will not work with out making this noise until they get warmed up
which in turn warms up the grease on the caliper pins and lets them slide
freely, you'll have to pull the wheels and tires off and then the calipers
and take a look at the two pins (on each caliper) and make sure the pins are
really clean and greased with a high temp brake grease and make sure the
holes that the pins slide back and forth into are also clean. If the pins look
even the tinyest bit bent or in any way messed up (other than normal wear)
they will cause you all kinds of problems and should be replaced. I think
they will cost around $20.00 to $25.00 dollars for all four pins. I'm
GUESSING this might take care of your problem, also sticking calipers pins
will/could cause one side of your brake pads to wear out faster than the
other side which in turns will cause you to have to do a brake job a lot
sooner. Also in a really bad case the pads could stay in contact with the
rotor causeing the rotor to wear out faster/over heat and causing brake
failure or fade due to the extra heat.
