I just want to ask those who have extensive experience with tuning a GA16
motor for forced induction (i.e. turbo) like Mike Kojima because I have a
custom turbo kit which includes a Garrett T25 turbo with intercooler,
blow-off valve, fuel pressure riser, etc. which I got from my friend's '95
Nissan Sentra. I'm planning to install it to my '95 Sentra. My current
mods include intake, headers, UR pulley, lightened flywheel, and an APexi
SAFC. My problem is I don't have access to JWT ECU, which I am fully aware
you highly recommend because I'm in the Philippines and it would really be
difficult to have it reprogrammed by JWT. My friend's car ran quite fast
even without the ECU reprogrammed. He had the turbo on his car for more
than 2 years without any major mechanical problems.
I just want to get your opinion and advice because I'm already planning to
install the kit next month. If you guys could give tips on PROPER TUNING
(i.e. how many degrees to be set for the timing, etc.) to avoid DETONATION
and others things which I should do before I run the car, I would greatly
appreciate it! I don't have access to a dyno here. Is it okay if I go with
2.5" exhaust piping from the turbo to the muffler since we don't have any
regulations here re: cat back system? Will the Apex SAFC and the fuel
pressure riser suffice for the fuel enrichment in place of the JWT ECU since
the T25 turbo is not too big anyway and I'll just be running the car at
minimum boost, 6-7psi only? Does anybody know the best setting of the Apex
SAFC for the GA16 with turbo? Should I set the fuel leaner at higher rpm or
which rpm range should have the most fuel input? etc.
Thanks in advance!
