cold oil or higher weight.  If it stays on for too long, then it may be low 
or the pump can't produce enough pressure quickly.  But, it should just be 
low oil or cold temps.  I use synthetic and I never have problems in the 
cold.  This is in my 2000 frontier with VG33E motor.  quick starts and no 
light at all even at 23 degrees or lower.  

        You have to remove the front cover regardless to get to the 
tensioner, just replace the chain, but get a genuine replacement, it has the 
gold links to match the thing properly.  I did this on my old KA24E motor.  
The chain gets sloppy with age and needs replaced with the tensioner and 
chain guides.  Nissan upgraded the chain guides with ones that have metal 
backings and not plastic.
