They replace the top nuts that fasten the strut to the strut mount (the
strut mount is attached to the strut tower). You should use these because
it's not a good idea to reuse locking fasteners. Also sometimes the
replacements have a much better design so you don't have to use a freakin
hex wrench to hold the shaft while you torque.

but here's my question. the instructions with the agx's are vague. the
struts came with 2 nuts, which do these replace?
