I had the same problem with the stock insert replacements...but the KYB
GR-2s (which probably aren't good for a lowered car) I had to use a box-end
wrench for the nut and an open-end to hold the shaft.  The allen wrench
configuration sucks.  And you DON'T want to use an impact to tighten it.

thats a funny thing you say that.  When I put the tokicos in years ago, they

gave me the nuts for the mount and they were very hard to tighten.  You had 
to use an open end wrench and a allen key.  I had a very hard time with 
tightening these.
