For the reasons you just mentioned, is the same reasons that I would want to
buy a WRX. My car should be done (swap wise!) and paid for by the middle of
summer. Around that same area of time, I'll be looking for a car. WRX is
one on my list and I do fully intend to drive the new SE-R when it comes
out. I went to the Subaru dealer earlier this week. They had 7 WRXs
available, but sadly for me, they were all sold and they weren't available
for test driving. I've not heard ANYTHING bad about the WRX. All
magazines, people, TV shows have praised the car and say its one of the most
amazing cars to hit these shores for that price. But one thing is, the Golf
(in my mind!) is in the same category as the SE-R and the RS-X. The cars
are relatively the same price, size and have almost the same power. Just
because the Golf is a german car, it doesn't mean its not an "import" and
has no room to compete. I think that VW cars are under-rated and deserve
more respect than they're given. Our cars (classics, 200s, SEs, etc.) have
gotten respect and Mike K. has helped alot in that field. They're
modifiable, and can hold ALOT of power. Its time that the respect for other
"imports" be given and put all cars, from europe or japan, against each
other and see, once and for all, who is the best. My money would be on the
japanese (Europeans tend to like the mechanics more than the road!)
