Thank you for the great idea. We have decided to ask lab to add a pink
sticker to the arm band whenever blood cultures are drawn. It will be
removed once the initial antibiotic is infused.

This was a little more cost effective for us. Our Sepsis Pathway is on
a pink piece of paper, which follows the patient from the ED to the ICU.
We decided to go with the same color to prevent color confusion.

Again, thanks for the inspiration.

At our hospital we are trying to give antibiotics within an hour for
our septic patients. We are finding the nurses do not always know when
the blood cultures have been drawn. Does anyone have a good system in
place that alerts the nurse once they have obtained the blood cultures
so then the nurse can give that antibiotic asap? Any suggestions are
appreciated.
