We are using POC lactate in ED and ABG/VBG lactate run by Resp therapy
in acute care. Haven't experienced a down side. Rapid results, good
correlation studies before implementation. Especially helpful on the
acute care side for rapid determination of severity of illness and need
for fluid in the normal tensive patient. It takes about 4 minutes for
both techniques to result. Our lab was about 40 min to an hour to turn
around and report results.

Subject: [Sepsis Groups] Point of care lactate testing

Good Morning,

Can anyone share their experience with point of care lactate testing?
We are currently evaluating our processes and examining the pros and
cons associated with various techniques (venous draw to lab vs ABG vs
POC).

Thank you!
