Hello, We are a community hospital with around 380+ licensed beds. We have 24/7 hospitalist and now recently Acute Care Trauma Service coverage. Not all of our hospitalists place central lines and so we are finding that there are times when we are seeing delays in central line placement due to folks having to be called in or not feeling that it is their responsibility to place lines. Can anyone share what your process is, for who can and does place central lines at your institution? Do they have to have some kind of competence/credentialing on file? If willing and perhaps offline, I would also be interested in hearing what type of lines/brands you are placing and whether or not you are using point-of-care ultrasound for placement.
Thank you in advance for any information you might be willing to share! ~Claudia Claudia Orth BSN, RN, CCRN-K Regional Sepsis Coordinator Clinical Quality Munson Medical Center 1105 Sixth Street Traverse City, MI 49684-2386 (231) 935-5692 (Voice) (231) 318-0394 (Pager) [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>
