Katie,
I am the Sepsis Coordinator at Navicent Health. We are a 630 bed facility,
Level 1 Trauma Center, Level 3 NNICU, we have 5 adult ICUs and a Pediatric ICU.
I have been in this position since April and August 1st it became my full time
job. There are a lot of moving parts and multiple changes that need to
continuously be made. The position requires a lot of administrative backing to
succeed, which luckily I do have.
We also have a Sepsis Team that meets every other week to discuss all issues
related to the care of septic patients. The team consists of over 40 members
consisting of: managers, directors, administration, quality, lab, pharmacy,
nursing leaders, respiratory, coding, utilization review, MD champions,
discharge planners, NPs, information services analysts, EC, ICU, and Med surge
leaders as well as bedside nurses.
I will confirm it is definitely at least enough work for one person no matter
what size the facility is.
Good luck! ☺

Subject: Sepsis coordinator ?

I would like to know how many of you have a dedicated sepsis coordinator vs. a
dual role and how many beds your facility is.

This seems just in our small facility enough work for one person!

If anyone is willing to share a job description I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!
